Does a suspended sentence result in a criminal criminal rrecord if you dont get in trouble during probation?

I got aressted for stealing this was my first time, I really shouldnt have done that dumb stuff but my lawyer says the judge will suspend sentencing and give me probation and community service does this mean there wont be a conviction on my record or will there still be a conviction for a lesser crime I really dont understand what S.I.S. means please someone explain.
Yes! There will be a record of this sentence,but if your a minor it should disappear at the age of 18.
