Does anybody have some dumb criminal story?

Some dummy in my area was trying to rob a man in a parking lot. The man that he was trying to rob was an off duty police officer. Needless to say the dummy went to jail.

When Cowlitz County sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant Sunday at the home of burglary suspect Gerald Levertt Mack, they found a note posted inside the house:

“Do not open door & let anyone in! Stolen Stuff visable.”

And by golly, deputies found stolen stuff, said Chief Criminal Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig.

“Nothing like helping us figure out what’s going on,” he said Monday, laughing.

Deputies have been going through the recovered loot — which includes at least 17 guns, antiques, furniture, jewelry and credit cards — and have confirmed 12 victims as of Monday, Rosenzweig said.

“This is one of the most significant recoveries in more than a decade,” he said.

Three deputies are logging the property and tracking down the owners. He said the property was stolen in burglaries from Kalama to Castle Rock, and was “way too much for one guy to do by himself.”

The investigation is continuing, Rosenzweig said. “It’s too early in the investigation to determine who else may be involved.”

Lower Columbia SWAT assisted with Mack’s arrest early Sunday morning after a standoff of several hours at his residence in the 100 block of Cherry Street, Castle Rock.

A witness identified Mack, 40, as the man he found inside his house on Pleasant Hill Road, Kelso, Saturday night. Deputies said Mack had property in his house identified as stolen Saturday from another victim on Pleasant Hill Road.

Mack made his first appearance Monday in Cowlitz County Superior Court. Judge Stephen Warning found probable cause to proceed with charges of first-degree burglary and residential burglary and set bail at $30,000.
