How long does a misdemeanor stay on your criminal record in florida?
me being very stupid. took some diaper for my baby when my mon threw me out. so now i have a misdemeanor for petty theft on my criminal record, i wanted to know how long does it stay on my record in florida? because I’m in need of a job and don’t know what job to apply for with this type of charge can someone please help me out and to explain to me my next step

    For as long as you’re alive, and then some.
    Apply for any job you qualify for. Many places don’t do a background check.

    Typically it will stay on forever unless you take affirmative action to get it expunged (taken off your record). Even a dismissal will show up on your record. Check http://www.criminalsearches.com to see if you show up

    Depends on your age. If you are over 18 then it is there forever. You can try to get it sealed after a certain time (usually 7 years) if you have not had any other arrests. The questions that most employers ask is have you ever been convicted of a felony? If the question is more general like “have you ever been arrested” then you have to make a choice about answering it. The best thing that you can do is be honest about. Don’t let it prevent you from trying though.

    1. If you hire an attorney to file the documents with the court to have the records expunged (Around $5000)

    2. If you die.

    Nothing else removes it.
