What’s the point of Decriminilizing possession of pot if sale and cultivation are still criminal?

In many states now possession of weed has been decriminalized, but cultivation and sales are still considered criminal. If you can’t cultivate or sell then where the heck do you get the weed? It’s idiocy on a base level.

Not to be confusing, I understand that you get the weed from someone who is cultivating or selling it, but if they’re breaking the law, aren’t you?

This just seems stupid to me.

Well, if you just have it and don’t sell it or grow it, then you aren’t a criminal. Seems clear to me. Maybe you smoke too much.

Stealing a car is criminal, speeding will only get you a ticket. Dealing pot should be criminal, using should only get you a ticket….

Don’t worry ! Come the revolution and I am El Presidente, I will institute a mandatory death sentence for the use, possession, sale or cultivation of Pot. No appeals and no exceptions.

They did it not to legalize pot, but to clear out petty offenders from jail. The government still wants to prevent pot sales. They just don’t want to pay to incarcerate reefers. It’s a cost cutting/prison decrowding measure.
