where can I find a criminal history on someone with no stupid fee?

I think it should be public records but everywhere I go I have to pay some stupid fee I need a web site I can go to type in a name and find out their criminal past anybody know of a place it sure would save alot of lives if it were that easy……

If you are dealing with just one county, many courthouses have public access computers if you know the person’s name and estimate of (or true) date of birth.
go to your local police department, sheriff’s office or court house.

You can do an indpendent search of court dockets and/or prison inmate searches but in order to get a full background check, you are going to pay for it.
In every county there is a goverment website that allows you to find out all this info from criminal records to traffic violations, that is accesible to the public. I’m sorry that I don’t know more info…
